Pune Police Head Constable Accused of Rape and Extortion, Counter Complaint Filed

Pune, 27th May 2023: A head constable from the Pune city police is facing a case of alleged rape and extortion after reportedly manipulating a woman under the guise of friendship.

The accused policeman, identified as Rahul Ashok Maddel (42), resident of Nana Peth, is currently posted at Hadapsar Police Station.

The complaint against Maddel was lodged by a woman at Chandannagar police station. According to the police, the complainant initially went to Shivrana Pratap police chowky in the Vadgaon Sheri area to register a complaint. It was there that she met Maddel. Over a period of time, he allegedly raped her after threatening to implicate her son and husband in a false crime. He also allegedly extorted money from her on multiple occasions.

In a twist to the case, Maddel has also filed an extortion complaint against the woman, her husband, and an accomplice. According to his complaint, a case has been registered against the woman, her husband, and the accomplice. Maddel claims that he had formed acquaintances and friendships with the woman, and over time, he gave her two lakh thirty-five thousand rupees for purposes such as purchasing a house. However, upon requesting the return of the money, the woman retaliated by falsely accusing him of rape.

Maddel further stated in his complaint that the woman had threatened him to transfer one lakh rupees online, under the threat of filing a rape case against him.

The investigation into this complex case is currently ongoing, with both sides presenting their claims and evidence.
