Pune Police Invoke MCOCA Against Gang Active In Viman Nagar

Pune, 22nd June 2022: Pune city police has invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act (MCOCA) against goons who are operating in the Viman Nagar.
Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta has ordered action against eight members of a gang led by Rohan Ashok Gaikwad (25), a resident of Kalwad Wasti, Lohegaon. ACP Kishor Jadhav is investigating the case.
According to police, there are many FIRs registered against the accused persons at the Airport (Vimantal), Yerwada, Chandan Nagar police stations on charges of attempt to murder, criminal intimidation, illegal possession of firearms and robbery.
Senior Police Inspector Bharat Jadhav, in-charge of Airport Police Station, had submitted a proposal to invoke the MCOCA against the gang. The action was taken under the guidance of
DCP (Zone 4) Rohidas Pawar and Additional Commissioner of Police Namdev Chavan.
Till now, Police Commissioner Gupta has taken action against 85 gangs (groups) under the MCOCA.
