Pune, 12th December 2021: Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta has launched a crackdown against gangs in the city to maintain law and order.

He has invoked the stringent Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act against Rupesh Krishnarao Marne, a historysheeter who was the mastermind of the rally for notorious goon Gajanan Marne after his release from Taloja Jail.

This is the 50th MPDA action by Commissioner of Police Gupta. He has initiated action against goons and organised crime syndicates by invoking MPDA and Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

Rupesh Marne (38), a resident of Shastrinnagar in Kothrud, had organized a motor rally for the notorious goon Gaja Marne, who was released from jail a few months back. Apart from that, many cases are registered against him at Kothrud, Warje Malwadi, Swargate, Yerwada, Paud, Talegaon Dabhade and Samarth police stations. His criminal activities had created an atmosphere of fear among the citizens of the area.

Kothrud Police Station’s Senior Police Inspector Mahendra Jagtap and Crime Branch’s Senior Police Inspector Vaishali Chandgude had moved proposals for action against him under the MPDA.

Accordingly, the Commissioner of Police Gupta sanctioned MPDA against Marne and have ordered to keep him in Aurangabad Jail for one year.
