Pune Police Launches “Secure Horizon in Education 2025” to Combat Student Crime and Drug Abuse
Pune, 19th November 2025: In a significant initiative aimed at curbing the rising crime rate and drug addiction among students, the Pune City Police, under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, launched the “Secure Horizon in Education 2025” program on Wednesday (November 19).
The event, organized by the Pune Police Commissionerate at JW Marriott Hotel, witnessed the participation of trustees, principals, and office bearers from 65 educational institutions and universities across Pune and its surrounding areas. Approximately 350 dignitaries, including representatives from NGOs, journalists, radio jockeys, social media influencers, and student union heads, attended the launch.
Focus on Student Safety and Discipline
The primary objective of the initiative is to create awareness regarding critical issues such as cyber security, women’s safety, mental health, road safety, and maintaining discipline within and around campus perimeters.
Commissioner Amitesh Kumar outlined the vision behind “Secure Horizon in Education 2025,” emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach between law enforcement and educational bodies to safeguard students.
Student-Led Presentations
A highlight of the program was the presentation of PowerPoints (PPTs) by students from various prestigious colleges, addressing specific themes:
Symbiosis College: Women Safety
MIT College: In-Campus and Campus Periphery Discipline
Fergusson College: Mental Health
Jadhavar College: Prohibition and control of alcohol and drug consumption in school/college vicinities
Annasaheb Magar College: Cyber Security
SNDT College: Road Safety Awareness
It was announced that throughout the coming year, workshops based on these topics will be conducted in schools and colleges across the city.

Dignitaries Present
The event was graced by prominent educationists, including Dr. S.B. Mujumdar (Chancellor, Symbiosis International University), Dr. S.K. Jain (President, Shikshan Prasarak Mandali), Dr. Suresh Gosavi (Vice-Chancellor, Savitribai Phule Pune University), and Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar (Pro-Chancellor, Symbiosis International University).
Senior police officials present included Additional CP (Administration) Sanjay Patil, Additional CP (East) Manoj Patil, Additional CP (Crime) Pankaj Deshmukh, and several Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs).
The program was planned by the officers and personnel of the ‘Bharosa Cell’ of the Crime Branch under the supervision of DCP (HQ) Rajalakshmi Shivankar. The event was anchored by Snehal Damle and Kanchan Dudhmal.
