Pune : Police Officer Arrested By Anti Corruption Bureau For Demanding Bribe To Not Register FIR

Pune 2nd August 2023: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials of Pune division have arrested a Police Sub Inspector (PSI) working with Pune City Police for allegedly demanding a bribe for not registering an FIR in a matter. The accused identified as Shankar Dhondiba Kumbhare (43) was attached with Vishrambaug Police Station of the city.

According to ACB official, a written complaint was filed against the complainant at Vishrambaug Police Station in some matter. The accused allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 for not converting it into an FIR and later agreed to accept Rs 15,000. The ACB officials after verifying the information laid a trap on Wednesday and the accused police officer was arrested while accepting the bribe.

A case in this regard has been registered at Vishrambaug Police Station against Kumbhare under relevant sections. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
