Katraj, 9th July 2026: Pune Police on Thursday conducted a public parade of five accused arrested in an attempted murder case in the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station limits, sending a strong message against violent crime and anti-social activities in the area.

The accused were taken through the locality where they had allegedly created fear among residents by engaging in criminal activities. During the parade, police warned habitual offenders against spreading terror, harassing citizens, and engaging in illegal activities.

Addressing the accused, police cautioned that strict action would be taken against anyone found intimidating residents, consuming alcohol or narcotic substances such as ganja in public places, or disturbing law and order.

According to Senior Police Inspector Mansingh Patil, in-charge of Bharati Vidyapeeth police station, the five accused were arrested in connection with an attempted murder that took place a few days ago within the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station jurisdiction. The group allegedly attacked a man with axes and swords, leaving him seriously injured.

Police said they had also received multiple complaints from local residents alleging that the accused had been repeatedly threatening people and creating an atmosphere of fear in the neighbourhood.

Following their arrest, the accused were paraded through the area as part of a confidence-building measure aimed at reassuring residents and warning other habitual offenders against indulging in criminal activities.

An investigation into the attempted murder case is ongoing.
