Pune Police Prepare for 31st December Parties with Breath Analyzer Campaign Against Drunk Driving
Pune, 28th December 2024: 31st December is just two days away, and many people are planning parties to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new one. This is especially popular among the youth. However, many often ignore the rules set by the police during these celebrations. Alcohol consumption is common on this day, leading to an increase in drunk driving.
To address this, the Pune City Police Commissionerate’s Traffic Branch is prepared for the occasion and has announced that action will be taken against drunk drivers at 30 locations using breath analyzers with disposable pipes. Following the Lok Sabha elections, the Pune Police had launched a special campaign to prevent any misconduct. During this campaign, punitive action was taken against those driving under the influence of alcohol.
The police reported that this year, they had taken action against 5,256 drunk drivers. The breath analyzer testing campaign was paused during the lockdown but resumed last year. Given the frequent violations of rules on 31st December, the Pune Police will continue this special breath analyzer testing campaign that had previously been suspended.
