Pune Police Raid Shop Selling Fake Levi’s Clothes, Rs 4.39 Lakh Worth of Goods Seized

Erandwane, 30th November 2024: In a crackdown on counterfeit goods, police raided a garment shop in the Erandwane area selling fake apparel under the internationally renowned Levi’s brand. The operation led to the seizure of 118 counterfeit jeans, shirts, and T-shirts worth ₹4.39 lakh. A case has been registered under the Copyright Act at Alankar Police Station.

Rakesh Sawant, an official representative of Levi’s, alerted authorities after discovering that counterfeit Levi’s clothing was being sold at “Brandkind Clothing” on Gulwani Maharaj Road in Erandwane. Acting on his complaint, the Crime Branch launched an investigation and conducted the raid.

During the operation, Crime Branch officers confiscated 118 fake jeans, 15 shirts, and 24 T-shirts bearing the Levi’s branding. The shop owner has been charged under the Copyright Act for selling counterfeit goods.

The raid was executed under the leadership of Additional Commissioner of Police Shailesh Balakawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingle, and Assistant Commissioner Ganesh Ingle. Police Inspector Rangrao Pawar, Assistant Inspector Madan Kamble, and Sub-Inspectors Rajesh Patole, Sanjeev Kalambe, Vinod Bhandalkar, and Rakesh Tekawde from Crime Branch Unit 3 carried out the operation.
