Pune, 15th May 2022: In the central part of the Pune city as well as in the suburbs, there have been complaints against many hotels, and bars for operating till the early hours.
On the orders of the Pune City Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta, the Social Security Cell (SSC) of Pune city police has launched a crackdown against such hotels and bars for the last four weeks.
According to police officials, after the Coronavirus disease (COVID19) pandemic the new normal lifestyle has started with late at night parties at pubs and the number of hookah parties increased. Many residents have also complained about loud music till late at night at the pubs.
Accordingly, hotels and bars which were open till late at night and more than the stipulated time were instructed to close at the earliest. Legal action has been taken against them for not closing down the establishment within the stipulated time.
As part of the special operation, the SSC has got nine probationary police sub-inspectors and anti-narcotics cell personnel who have recently joined the police force to take action on hotels, bars and hookah parlours, which have been operating till late Saturday night.
Under this specially organized raid between Saturday night and Sunday morning, the action was taken against Waters Bar and Kitchen in Koregaon Park annexe area under Mundhwa police station, The House Affair under Yerwada Police Station, Rooftop Village and Agent Jack’s NIBM Road under Kondhwa Police Station.
Police raided the illegal hookah parlour at The Houz Affairs in Kalyaninagar and seized materials worth Rs 89,000. An FIR has been registered against The Houz Affairs business manager Saurabh Dattatraya Navgan (35), Prasanna Uttam Pathak (24) and supervisor Shravan Bhatan Mandal (34). They have been booked for offences under relevant sections of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) (Maharashtra Amendment) Act, 2018.
