Pune Police Receive 927 Complaints About Mobile Theft Through Lost And Found Portal In Last Six Days
Pune 26th Sept 2023: The Pune City Police are having a tough task to control the mobile theft related cases during the ganesh festival at crowded places in the city. According to officials, a total of 927 people have lodged online complaints about mobile theft using the lost and found option on the city police’s website.
The citizens are provided an option to lodge their complaints related to mobile phone theft or lost cases using the official website of the Pune City Police and majority of them opt for this option while some prefer to walk upto the police station to lodge complaint. Out of 927 complaints received online, the city police have managed to recover 25 mobile phones while remaining are yet to be found.
According to the city police officials, a total of 25,557 such cases have been registered though and lost and found portal in the last eight months. of which 671 mobile phones have been recovered by the police. The central government has also recently introduced a portal ‘Center Equipment Identity Register’ (CEIR) for citizens to lodge their complaints in case of lost mobile phones or sim cards. The city police have urged the citizens to take care of their belongings while visiting the crowded places during the festival while assuring that the police personnel in civil uniform have been also deployed to nab the thieves.
