Pune Police Recovers Phones Worth Rs 30 Lakh Stolen From Vh1 Supersonic Concert, Bust Gang Which Came Here By Flight From Delhi

Viman Nagar, 27th February 2023: Pune Police has seized 44 mobile phones worth Rs 30 lakhs which were stolen from the Vh1 Supersonic concert. The arrests were made in two separate incidents.

In the first incident, the officials from Vimantal police station caught a gang of mobile thieves, and 39 mobile phones worth Rs 28.4 lakh were seized from them. The gang members have been identified as Asad Gulzar Mohammed (32), Shahbaz Bhole Khan (26), Nadeem Ibrahim Malik, all residents of Delhi, and Rahul Lilidhar Kangale (30) and Nizam Babu Qureshi (35), both residents of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.

Senior Police Inspector Vilas Sonde, in-charge of Vimantal police station, said, “The gang used to go to music concerts to steal mobile phones from unsuspecting people. The arrests were made after receiving complaints about the theft of mobile phones during the Vh1 Supersonic concert program organized at Mahalaxmi Lawns from February 24-26.”

Acting on a tip-off received by ASI Avinash Shewale, a team comprising PSI Ravindra Dhaware and policemen Yogesh Thopte and Dadasaheb Barde nabbed accused Asad Gulzar Mohammed after a chase. Upon interrogation, he confessed to stealing mobile phones at the concert and revealed the names of his accomplices who were staying at Hotel Milan near Pune railway station. A team was rushed to the hotel and other accused were also caught.

In the second incident, a man from Karnataka was arrested in connection with mobile phone theft at the same concert. The police seized five phones worth Rs 1.87 lakh from the accused identified as Prashant K Kumar from Shimoga district of Karnataka.

The action was taken under the guidance of DCP (Zone 4) Shashikant Borate, ACP Kishore Jadhav and Senior Police Inspector Vilas Sonde. The team included Police Inspector Sangeeta Mali, Sub Inspector Ravindra Dhaware, Samu Chaudhary, and police personnel Avinash Shewale, Sachin Kadam, Sachin Jadhav, Rupesh Pisal, Ankush Jogdande, Nana Karche, Yogesh Thopte, Dadasaheb Barde, Gyandev Awari and Shivraj Chavan.
