Yerwada, 7th February 2025: Pune Police have returned stolen valuables worth ₹4.86 crore to complainants in 101 cases, reaffirming their commitment to tackling crime in the city.

At a special ceremony on Thursday, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar emphasized that criminals will face strict legal action, drawing a reference to the Bollywood film Gangaajal by stating that offenders will be “desecrated” through lawful means.

The event saw the presence of Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Himmat Jadhav, Assistant Commissioner of Police Pranjali Sonawane, Vitthal Dabde, and other officers.

Commending the efforts of his team, Commissioner Kumar highlighted that valuables worth ₹2 crore were returned by Chatushrungi police, while Lonikand police restored ₹1.5 crore worth of stolen assets. He urged Yerawada, Vimannagar, and Chandannagar police to intensify efforts in recovering stolen property and ensuring justice for theft victims.

“Citizens look up to the police with hope after theft or burglary. We are committed to ensuring justice and maintaining a disciplined atmosphere in the city,” Kumar said.

Several victims expressed gratitude for the police’s efforts.
“My house was robbed last year, and my gold ornaments and other valuables were stolen. The police worked tirelessly and managed to recover them. My salute to Pune Police,” said Chandraprabha Shinde, one of the beneficiaries.
