Pune Police Reward Five Individuals for Assisting in Locating Missing Girl

Pune, 23rd April 2024: On April 18, a 12-year-old girl left her home near Nanded City out of anger following an argument with her mother. A collaborative effort involving numerous individuals, including the police, was initiated to locate her. Pune City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar recognized the efforts of 5 individuals who played a significant role in the search and rewarded them with 1 lakh rupees each during a ceremony on Monday (22nd April).

After the girl’s whereabouts remained unknown until late in the evening, her parents enlisted the help of social workers to circulate a ‘missing’ advertisement on WhatsApp. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar directed senior police officers and personnel to assist in the search for the girl.

After receiving information from Sharad Ghodke that he had spotted the girl eating vadapav at Kesnand Phata, Wagholi, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar personally visited the location. On this occasion, the commissioner announced a reward of 1 lakh rupees for any information leading to the whereabouts of the missing girl. Thousands of Pune residents shared the ‘missing’ image on their WhatsApp status repeatedly, which ultimately provided a clue that she was near the temple in Ranjangaon.

In recognition of their significant contributions to the search effort, Commissioner Amitesh Kumar honoured Shivabhau Pasalkar, Sharad Manjabapu Ghodke, Sambhaji Ashok Satav, Yuvraj Irbhan Wankhede, and Sanjay Patilbua Gade with a reward of 1 lakh rupees. Additional Commissioner of Police, Pravin Kumar Patil, was also present during the felicitation ceremony.
