Pune Police Seize Ganja And MD Drugs Worth Lakhs, Arrest Four Suspects in Three Operations
Pune, 20th May 2023: In a series of successful operations carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Squad-02 of Pune City Crime Branch, the police have made significant strides in curbing drug trafficking in the city. The crackdown resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of marijuana with an estimated street value worth several crores.
Four individuals have been apprehended in connection with these operations, marking a significant blow to the illicit drug trade.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sankalp Suresh Sakpal, hailing from Mumbai, Shahrukh Mustafa Baig from Kondhwa, Pune, Mantu Rambabu Rai from Samastipur in Bihar, and Rakesh Kumar Ramnath Das from Patna, Bihar.
According to police, the first operation unfolded when officers on patrol in the Deccan police station area received credible information regarding Sankalp Suresh Sakpal’s possession of ganja. Swiftly acting on the tip-off, the police laid a trap and successfully apprehended Sankalp. A significant amount of 55 grams of the drug Mephedrone (MD) with an estimated value of ₹11 lakhs was seized from his possession. He has been arrested and booked under various section under the NDPS Act.
In a separate operation, the police detained Shahrukh in the Kondhwa area. Authorities seized Mephedrone (MD) valued at ₹1 lakh 40 thousand and charas worth ₹81 thousand from him. A case has been registered against him at Kondhwa Police Station.
In a third operation, the police apprehended Mantu and Rakesh Kumar in the Bundgarden area. A staggering quantity of 63 kg 694 grams of ganja, amounting to a value of ₹12 lakh 73 thousand 880, was seized from their possession. A case has been registered against them at the Bundgarden Police Station.
