Pune Police Seize Opium Worth Rs 2 Crores In Lohegaon And Hadapsar; Three Persons Arrested

Pune, 3rd August 2023: The anti-narcotics cell-2 of the Pune Police crime branch has conducted successful raids in Lohegaon and Hadapsar areas, resulting in the seizure of opium worth Rs two crores. Two accused from Rajasthan have been apprehended in connection with the case.

In line with Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar’s directives to combat drug smuggling, the Anti-Narcotics Squad of the Crime Branch arrested Rahul Kumar Bhuralalji Sahu (age 32, residing in Mangalwada, Tehsil Dungla, Rajasthan) in the Lohgaon area’s Porwal Road. The police confiscated a substantial quantity of five kilograms and 519 grams of opium from his possession. A case has been registered at the airport (Vimantal) police station in this regard.

Similarly, acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap in Fursungi area of Hadapsar, leading to the arrest of Mohanlal Megaram Bishnoi (age 24, resident of Bagrapur Marwadi, district Badner, Rajasthan). During the arrest, the police seized three kilograms and 29 grams of opium valued at Rs. 60 lakh. Furthermore, during a separate operation in Yerwada area, Sonu Sahebrao Kolse (age 44, residing in Subhash Colony, Srirampur) was arrested, and 10 kilograms of ganja worth approximately two lakh rupees were confiscated from his possession.

The efficient operation was carried out under the supervision of Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik, Additional Commissioner of Police Ram Nath Pokle, Deputy Commissioner of Police Amol Zende, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Satish Govekar, with Police Inspector Sunil Thopte leading the Anti-Narcotics Squad.
