Pune Police Seize Rs 50.69 Lakh In ‘Seeking’ App Scam Bust; Woman Among Arrested Duo

Pune, 6th November 2023: Pune police have arrested a man and a woman involved in an intricate scam exploiting men through the dating app Seeking.

The police successfully resolved five cases linked to their modus operandi and seized a total of Rs 50.69 lakh from the accused persons.

The accused, targeting men from various states, initiated conversations using fake profiles featuring images of women. Once contact was established, the scammers persuaded victims to book hotels and coerced them into making online payments. Additionally, they also robbed valuables from the victims.

In Pune, FIRs have been lodged against the accused at Vimantal, Chandan Nagar, Sinhgad Road, and Hinjawadi police stations. A similar case has been reported in Panvel.

Officials from the Social Security Cell of Pune Police Crime Branch have uncovered connections to similar crimes reported in other cities, such as Hyderabad and Bangalore.

The investigative team, led by Senior Police Inspector Bharat Jadhav, included API Aniket Pote, ASI Rajesh Malegave, and police personnel Rajendra Kumawat, Baba Karpe, Manisha Pukale, Tushar Bhivarkar, Hanmant Kamble, Irfan Pathan, Sagar Kekan, Imran Nadaf, Amey Rasal, Kishore Bhujbal, and Sandeep Kolge.
