Pune Police Seize 182 Vehicles of People Flouting Lockdown Rule

Pune, March 30, 2020: Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham has appealed people not to take out private vehicles and empty fuel tank for non-essential work. Police have also filed cases against seven petrol pumps for selling petrol to people who are not engaged in essential services.

 

“Vehicles will not get petrol as per order. Some vehicles already seized. Some violating petrol pumps will be closed. Stay home. Stay safe”, CP Venkatesham tweeted.

He further said, “More than 182 vehicles seized for moving for non essential works and breaking lockdown rules. Action on petrol pump for providing petrol to vehicle for non essential work. Now we are in critical phase.”

The administration has appealed people to stay inside their homes as the number of Coronavirus positive cases has crossed 40 in Pune district and one person died during treatment.

 

As lockdown has been clamped in the whole country including Pune City where vehicle movement is not allowed, except those engaged in essential services, Pune city police has come out with solution to help people who has genuine reason to travel. In a major relief to people who want to travel within the city during emergency especially medical cases, Pune city police along with autorickshaw unions and CityGlide Auto company, has made available 180 autorickshaws. Other vehicles are not allowed to ply due to lockdown to fight against Covid-19.
