Pune: Police Sub-Inspector Caught Red-Handed While Taking Bribe Of Rs 20,000

Pune, 6th April 2023: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has apprehended a sub-inspector of Sinhagad Road police station for accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000 to recover a stolen car.

The police sub-inspector involved in the bribery scandal is identified as Shashikant Narayan Pawar, currently stationed at Abhiruchi chowky under Sinhagad Road Police Station. The complainant’s driver had taken the stolen vehicle to his village, following which the complainant lodged a report with the Sinhagad Road police station.

The accused sub-inspector demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from the complainant, promising to investigate the case and retrieve the stolen car. After negotiations, the complainant agreed to pay a bribe of Rs 20,000 and reported the matter to the ACB.

Acting on the complaint, the ACB apprehended sub-inspector Shashikant Pawar red-handed, while accepting the bribe of Rs. 20,000 on the premises of the Abhiruchi police chowky.
