Pune: Police Sub Inspector Demands Rs 1 Lakh Bribe For Not Arresting Accused In Child Sexual Abuse Case

Pune, November 26, 2020: In a shocking incident, a police sub-inspector posted with Yerwada police station was arrested today for allegedly accepting a bribe for not making youth and his mother accused in a child sexual abuse case. The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) nabbed the PSI.

Now an FIR has been registered against PSI Prashant Kirve of Laxminagar police chowky for offences under the relevant section of the Prevention Of Corruption Act. He was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000.

According to ACB, Yerwada police has registered a case for offences under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The PSI was investigating the case and demanded Rs one lakh bribe from youth for not making him an accused along with his mother.

The youth lodged a complaint with ACB which verified the allegation and then caught PSI Kirve red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000.

The action was taken by ACB team under the guidance of SP Rajesh Bansode and Additional SP Suraj Gurav.
