Bavdhan, 28th January 2025: Police have issued a notice to former Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) corporator Baburao Chandere in connection with an alleged attack on a realtor and his employee at Susgaon. The notice comes two days after an FIR was lodged against Chandere and three others by Bavdhan police station, Pimpri Chinchwad police.

According to police sub-inspector Devidas Phad, the incident took place on Saturday afternoon, following which a 48-year-old employee of the realtor filed a complaint. “We have asked Chandere to visit the police station to provide his statement,” Phad said.

The complainant claimed the dispute began when he and his employer objected to Chandere allegedly conducting digging work on their land in Susgaon. “The complainant stated that Chandere slapped him and pushed his employer. He also accused Chandere of pelting stones at his employer, which caused a head injury,” Phad added.

Refuting the allegations, Chandere, who is affiliated with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), asserted that the work in question was related to a drainage project for Sus and Mhalunge, carried out on government land. “The digging was not happening on the realtor’s property. We have proper work orders from PMC for the project,” Chandere explained.

He further accused the realtor and his team of initiating the altercation. “They started pelting stones at the driver operating the earthmover. I tried to de-escalate the situation and asked them not to obstruct the work. While moving the realtor aside to talk, I stumbled, and both of us fell,” Chandere said.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar condemned the incident and expressed his disapproval of any inappropriate behavior by party members. “No one is above the law. I will not tolerate such actions, regardless of the individual’s political affiliation,” Pawar stated.

Pawar also mentioned attempting to contact Chandere on Sunday. “I tried calling him, but he didn’t answer. Later, I spoke to his son,” he said. Chandere, however, clarified that he was attending a flag-hoisting ceremony when Pawar called. “I later called him back, and we had a detailed conversation,” he added.
