Pune Policeman Assaults Elderly Citizen, Case Registered at Lashkar Police Station

Camp, 19th May 2023: A shocking incident unfolded in the Camp area when a suspended policeman of the Pune police force brutally assaulted a 65-year-old senior citizen residing nearby.

The incident, which took place on May 17, has resulted in a case being registered against the suspended officer, Arfaz Arif Shaikh, and a woman, at the Lashkar police station. The complainant, Amir Hanif Patel, who was subjected to the assault, lodged a complaint against the accused.

According to the police, the incident occurred when Patel was sitting in the front yard of his house in the evening. A woman living behind Patel’s house approached him, accusing him of taking her photo without permission and questioning his right to do so. It was during this confrontation that the suspended policeman, Arfaz Sheikh, joined in and launched a brutal attack on the senior citizen and his son using a wooden bamboo. Shaikh, claiming his authority as a policeman, threatened not to spare them.

Following the complaint lodged by the victims, a case was registered against both the suspended officer and the woman at the Lashkar police station. Police sub-inspector S Bansude is currently leading the investigation into the matter.
