Pune Policeman Booked For Extorting Rs 28,000 From Youth In Bopdev Ghat, Suspended

Kondhwa, 7th June 2025: A shocking case of police extortion has come to light in Pune’s Bapdev Ghat area, where a young man was allegedly forced to pay ₹28,000 under threat of legal action after a hookah pot was found in his bag while out with a friend.
The accused police personnel has been identified as Vikram Lakshman Wadatile, stationed at Kondhwa Police Station. Following the filing of a complaint, the officer has been suspended from duty, creating a stir within the police department.
According to police sources, the complainant is a resident of Chennai who had gone for a walk in Bapdev Ghat with his friend. During the outing, the officer discovered a hookah pot in the young man’s bag and initially demanded ₹30,000 as a bribe under the threat of action.
Subsequently, ₹28,000 was accepted via Google Pay from the complainant’s friend, Kedar Jadhav. After the incident, the young man lodged a formal complaint at Kondhwa Police Station. A case has been registered against the police personnel involved, and Vikram Lakshman Wadatile has been suspended from service.
