Pune Politician Ganesh Bidkar Faces Extortion Threat: Files Complaint with Crime Branch
Pune, 7th May 2024: It has recently been revealed that Ganesh Bidkar, the former house leader of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), received a call demanding an extortion of 25 lakh rupees. The caller threatened to end Bidkar’s political career if the ransom was not paid and to circulate the footage on social media.
In response to this incident, Bidkar filed a complaint with the Anti-Extortion Cell of the Crime Branch. The incident occurred on Sunday (5th May) evening when Bidkar was at a hotel in the Camp Area. He received a call from an unknown person who demanded the ransom. The caller threatened to tarnish Bidkar’s political career and disseminate the video on social media if the ransom was not paid. Following this incident, Bidkar complained to the Anti-Extortion Cell on Monday (6th May). Preliminary investigations have revealed that the threatening phone call to Bidkar originated from abroad.
Bidkar is actively involved in campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Muralidhar Mohol in the Pune Lok Sabha constituency. The revelation of this threat against Bidkar during his campaign activities has caused a stir in political circles. This isn’t the first time Bidkar has faced such threats; previously, there was an incident where he was threatened, leading to the arrest of the accused by the crime branch.
