Pune, 11th November 2023: In the early hours of Saturday, a sudden technical failure in Adani Energy Solutions Ltd’s ultra-high pressure 400 KV power line from Shikrapur to Talegaon resulted in a power deficit of approximately 209 Megawatts (MW). As a consequence, load management became challenging, leading to unregulated power supply in various areas.

The incident occurred around 4 am, and due to the inability to manage loads from the sub-centres of Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Ltd (MSETCL) and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), certain parts of Pimpri Chinchwad city, as well as Kharadi, Chandan Nagar, some areas of Maval, Uruli Kanchan, etc., experienced unnecessary power regulations from 7:14 am to 8:45 am today.

In response to the technical failure, the Load Trimming Scheme (LTS) system was activated for load management. This led to the shutdown of the power supply to MSETCL’s high voltage substations, including 132 KV Rahatni, 220 KV Chinchwad, 220 KV Theur, 132 KV Yav, and 220 KV Urse. The measure was implemented to offset the deficit of around 209 MW.

As a result of these actions, power supply to MSEDCL’s sub-stations was also disrupted, impacting approximately 2 lakh customers in various areas, including Pimpri, Chinchwad, Pimple Saudagar, Kalevasti, Thergaon, Wakad, Nigdi, Pradhikaran, Kiwale, Kharadi, Chandan Nagar, parts of Maval, Uruli Kanchan city, Kunjirwadi, Theur, Shindevadi Ashtapur, Hingangaon, Khamgaon Tek, Tilekar Wadi, etc. The electricity supply for 19 thousand customers had to be temporarily shut off for one and a half hours in the morning.
