Wagholi, 27th February 2023: Around 9,500 consumers in Wagholi faced a power outage overnight due to multiple technical failures and emergency repair work at Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company’s ultra-high pressure Lonikand substation. The electricity supply was disrupted after one technical failure occurred after another. MSEDCL engineers and employees worked throughout the night to repair the underground power lines of both Wagheshwar and Karola-2. After completion of the repair work, electricity supply was restored to all customers at 8:30 am today.

The Wagholi area is supplied with electricity through the Purvarang 22/22 KV substation, which is supplied with electricity from Mahatransco’s Lonikand Ultra High Pressure Substation through MSEDCL’s Purvarang 22 KV line. On Sunday at around 11 am, due to the failure in the Purvarang power line, alternative power supply was started to the Purvarang sub-center through the Karol-2 power line. Later in the afternoon, urgent emergency repair work was undertaken at MSEDCL’s Lonikand High Pressure Substation, and the power supply of all the three 22 KV channels of MSEDCL was stopped from 6 to 8 pm. However, within half an hour, the power supply was interrupted again due to the failure in the channels of Wagheshwar and Karola-2.

Due to the emergency repair work of Mahatransco, MSEDCL took technical measures for alternative power supply in the Wagholi area from 6 to 8 pm. However, due to increasing heat, the demand for electricity increased, and the electricity supply of around 9,500 consumers in the Avalwadi Road, Saistyam Park, Renuka Park, Dabhade Vasti, Baif Rasta, and Domkhel Vasti in Nailajastav Wagholi area was shut down from 6 to 8 pm. Engineers and employees of MSEDCL worked tirelessly throughout the night to repair the underground power lines of both Wagheshwar and Karola-2, and excavation was done with JCB and Breaker.

MSEDCL officials have apologized for the inconvenience caused to the customers and assured that measures are being taken to ensure a smooth supply of electricity. They have also urged the customers to contact their helpline numbers in case of any power-related issues.
