Pune: Prabhudesai, Gujrathi in line for double crown at D.E.S. Fergusson College AITA Championship series U-16 Tennis Tournament

Pune, May 26, 2022: Devanshee Prabhudesai and Laksh Gujarathi placed themselves in line for double crown reaching the finals of the girls and boys 16 singles and doubles event at the D.E.S. Fergusson College Championship series Under 16 Tennis Tournament which is being organized by Fergusson College and Nandan Bal Tennis Academy Under the auspices of MSLTA and AITA and to be played at Fergusson College Tennis Courts.

In the girls singles event semifinals fourth seeded Devanshee Prabhudesai thrashed Shrawani Deshmukh 6-3, 6-1 to set up a title clash against Abhilipsa Mallick who upset eighth seeded Ritika More 6-1, 6-2. Devanshee also made it to the doubles finals with Saiyette Varadkar scraped past the pair of Kshirin Wakalkar and Durga Birajdar 7-6(5), 6-2. In the finals they will take on Arya Shinde and Riddhi Shinde who beat Rishita Patil and Shrimoyee Kamat 6-4, 6-3.

Laksh Gujarathi seeded top in the boys singles, scored a 4-6, 7-6(8), 7-5 win over Abhiram Nilakhe and will take on Omkar Shinde who registered a 6-4, 6-1 win against Piyush Jadhav. In the boys doubles event semifinals Laksh Gujrathi teamed up with Swaraaj Dhamdhere to score a 6-4, 6-7(2), 10-2 win over Ashutosh Kawdekar and Nimay Mahadik.
