Pune: Pramod Chaudhari Receives ECI’s ‘Eminent Engineer Award’

Pune, 3rd May 2023: Praj Industries Founder-Executive Chairman Dr Pramod Chaudhari received the Engineering Council of India’s (ECI) prestigious ‘Eminent Engineer’s Award’ at a recent function held in New Delhi. The Award was presented to Dr Pramod Chaudhari by NITI Aayog member and distinguished scientist Dr V. K. Saraswat during the National Conference and Foundation Day event of the Engineering Council of India.

The ECI has been giving this award since 2012 to entrepreneurs for their outstanding contribution in the engineering sector. Some of the previous recipients of the Award include N R Narayana Murthy, Mukesh Ambani, Baba Kalyani, Nandan Nilekani and Dr Anil Kakodkar, Prof M M Sharma and Dr Tessy Thomas.

Dr V K Saraswat, member NITI Aayog, praised the contribution of Dr Pramod Chaudhari for his ability to link knowledge of science and engineering. Dr Saraswat also underlined the important role played by engineers in the overall development of the Indian economy.

Dr Pramod Chaudhari said, “I thank the jury for recognizing my efforts to bring bio-economy into the mainstream. This award not only appreciates Praj’s contribution made to the bio-fuel based economy but will also encourage others working in the bio-fuel sector. I dedicate this Award to my mentors, who have always been a source of inspiration.”

The high-level jury for this year’s award comprised Dr Kirit Parikh (Former Member, Planning Commission), Dr R A Mashelkar (Former Secretary DSIR), B Muthuraman (Former Vice-President Tata Steel), Dr D V Reddy (Former Secretary, Heavy Industries and Founder NTPC) and two recipients of the Eminent Engineers Award – Dr Vijay Bhatkar and Dr Aniruddha Pandit.

ECI is the apex body of engineering profession in India, which works for the advancement of engineering profession in various disciplines and for enhancing the image of engineers in society by focusing on quality and accountability of engineers. It organizes national conferences and other events to highlight the role of engineers in the development of the nation.
