Pune: Prisoner At Yarwada Jail Attacks Self With Blade, Attempt To Suicide Case Registered
Pune 2nd August 2023 : The Jail officials at Yerwada Central Jail have filed a case against a prisoner with Pune City Police for allegedly trying to attempt suicide inside open jail. The accused identified as Dhananjaya Rajaram Dighe was convicted for the life imprisonment in a murder case.
The incident took place on Tuesday at around 8:30 am inside an open prison when the accused attacked himself using an old blade. He sustained injuries in the incident.
According to reports, Dighe was convicted by the court for murder in 2019. Due to his good behaviour during imprisonment he was shifted to an open jail. For the last few days his health deteriorated and he was suffering from mental issues.
