Pune: Prostitution Racket Busted at Hotel in Kalyani Nagar, Three Accused Booked
Kalyani Nagar, 24th March 2025: The Pune Police have uncovered an alleged prostitution racket being run out of Hotel Spring Brook in Kalyani Nagar.
Following a raid on March 13, police officials identified the accused as Sonia Gidwani, Amol Tambade, and a broker known as Bunty. While Gidwani’s involvement was initially unclear, further investigation led to her being officially named in the case.
According to the police, Tambade was reportedly facilitating clients by sharing photographs and contact details of women, allegedly under Gidwani’s instructions. The authorities believe the operation was running for financial gain, with clients being directed to the hotel.
The accused have been charged under Sections 3, 4, 5, and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. Additionally, due to the involvement of multiple individuals, charges under Section 143(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) have also been applied.
Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke of Yerawada Police Station stated, “Gidwani and Bunty are currently absconding, but efforts are underway to track them down. We will take swift action to bring them into custody.”
This is not the first case linked to Gidwani. In June 2023, she and another individual were accused of illegally retaining control of the hotel. According to the case details, the property owner had legally leased the hotel to Gidwani. However, after the lease expired, she allegedly refused to vacate or pay further rent. A chargesheet in this matter has already been filed in court by the Yerawada Police.
