Pune: Prostitution Racket Disguised as Spa Busted in Pimple Saudagar, Two Women Rescued
Pimple Saudagar, 23rd May 2024: A clandestine prostitution operation masquerading as a spa centre has been dismantled by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Pimpri Chinchwad police. The illicit establishment, camouflaged as a spa, operated at Shivar Chowk in the affluent area of Pimple Saudagar.
Authorities sprung into action following a tip-off and swiftly conducted a raid, leading to the rescue of two women ensnared in the web of prostitution. The suspects, identified as Akshay Dhanraj Patil (spa manager), Rohan Samudra, and Bhushan Patil (spa owners), are currently at large, prompting a search operation by the Wakad police station.
A case has been registered at the Wakad police station under Section 370 (3), 34 of the Indian Penal Code, in addition to Sections 3, 4, 5, and 7 of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act 1956.
Inspector Devendra Chavan of the AHTU spearheaded the investigation after receiving intel about the illicit activities masquerading under the guise of a spa center. Upon probing Ample Beauty Salon and Spa Center in Pimple Saudagar, authorities verified the existence of a prostitution racket operating covertly within the premises.
Subsequently, a raid was conducted, culminating in the rescue of two women, hailing from Maharashtra and Assam. Efforts are underway to apprehend the spa owner and manager, Inspector Chavan said.
