Pune : PSI Allegedly Dies By Suicide At Aundh Residence
Pune, 7th October 2026: A police sub-inspector attached to the Pune city police allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Aundh on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Nilesh Bhausaheb Patil, who was posted at the Vishrambaug police station. According to preliminary information, Patil allegedly shot himself with his service revolver at his residence around 3pm.
After hearing the sound of gunfire, residents alerted the police. A team from the Chaturshringi police station rushed to the spot and conducted a panchnama. The body was subsequently sent to a hospital for the postmortem examination.
Police said Patil had reportedly been suffering from a serious illness for the past few days. Preliminary information suggests that he may have taken the extreme step amid depression linked to his illness. However, the exact reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained.
Patil had previously served at Vishrambaug and other police stations in Pune city. He is survived by his wife and son.
The Chaturshringi police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
