Bhimashankar, 29th August 2023: On the second Monday of Shravan, around 300,000 devotees flocked to Bhimashankar temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, to offer flowers to the Shivling and take blessings of the god Shiva.

Bhimashankar is the sixth Jyotirlinga and attracts numerous devotees every Shravan month. Despite heavy rains in the region over the past week, the crowd was substantial due to the three consecutive holidays.

The fourth Saturday and Sunday were also holidays, resulting in approximately 600,000 visitors during the long weekend.

To facilitate transportation, the Maharashtra State Transport Corporation provided minibuses and large buses. Increased train services were also available in Shivajinagar, Pune.

The administration, led by officials including Khed Police Sub-Divisional Officer Sudarshan Patil, made extensive arrangements, deploying police personnel, inspectors, and home guards to ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience.
