Pune: PVG’s College of Engineering Bags Title of Supra SAE India 2025 in National Racing Car Design Competition
Pune, 3rd September 2025: Students from Pune Vidyarthi Griha’s College of Engineering, Technology and Management (PVG-COETM) have secured the first rank at the prestigious Supra SAE India 2025 national competition, organised by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in Noida between August 13 and 16. Competing against premier institutions including IITs and NITs, PVG’s ‘Maverick’ team emerged as the overall champion, bagging five awards and a total cash prize of ₹2 lakh.
The 28-member team from the Mechanical Engineering Department designed and fabricated a racing car named ‘Avira’ in collaboration with students from other branches. Their performance outshone several leading engineering institutes across the country. The team not only clinched the national title but also secured victories in individual events, including the Acceleration Event (₹25,000), Skidpad Event (₹25,000), and runner-up in the Endurance Event (₹20,000).
PVG’s engineering team has shown consistent progress over the years—winning third place in 2022, followed by consecutive second-place finishes in 2023 and 2024, before achieving the top spot this year. Faculty & Mentor Prof. Mahesh Kamble was honoured with the ‘Dronacharya Award’ for his exemplary mentorship.

Congratulating the team, Sunil Redekar, Director of PVG, Prof. Rajendra Kaduskar, Principal Dr. Manoj Taranbale, and HoD Dr. M. M. Bhumkar lauded the students’ dedication and the faculty’s guidance. They emphasised that such platforms provide young engineers with invaluable exposure to design, project management, and teamwork.
Speaking about the achievement, Redekar said, “This is a matter of pride for PVG and Pune. Supra SAE gives students the opportunity to innovate, collaborate, and compete on a national stage, helping them emerge as future leaders in engineering and technology.”
