Pune: Railway Authorities Likely To Increase Frequency Of Local Train In Afternoon
Pune 19th Oct 2023: The railway authorities in Pune are seriously considering the demand to increase the frequency of local trains in the afternoon period. This comes after the railway headquarter assured the Pune division to allow running some trains in the afternoon during the corridor gap.
The local train service between Pune Railway Station and Lonavala is shut between 11:15 am and 3pm everyday while the same is shut between Lonavala and Pune between 10 am and 2:50 pm. Many commuters who travel between Pune and Lonavala, Talegaon face difficulties due to this corridor gap and they have no other option than travelling by road which not only increases the travel time but the expenses are also increased.
Many students whose colleges start early in the morning and end in the afternoon also face problems and they wait for over 2 to 3 hours after their college for local trains to start to reach home. The railway authorities have received requests in the past from daily commuters to start the afternoon local trains to felicitate these passengers but the officials were waiting for a green signal from the headquarter in Mumbai. According to officials, the headquarter has now assured to run some trains during the corridor which will also make way to run local trains.
