Pune Railway Division Cracks Down on Ticketless Travelers, Recovers Rs 2.03 Crore in October

Pune, 3rd November 2023: In a resolute campaign against ticketless and irregular travel, the Pune Railway Division has reported significant success in the month of October 2023. A total of 23,145 individuals were apprehended for traveling without tickets, resulting in the recovery of a substantial fine of Rs 2 crore 03 lakh 09 thousand from these offenders. In addition to this, 10,709 passengers were fined a cumulative amount of Rs. 62 lakh 64 thousand for traveling irregularly and without proper tickets. Moreover, a sum of Rs 20 thousand was collected from 185 individuals who were carrying unbooked luggage during their journey.
This extensive operation was executed under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager, Indu Dubey, in close coordination with Additional Divisional Railway Manager Brijesh Kumar Singh and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dr. Milind Hirve. The leadership of Divisional Commercial Manager Dr. Ramdas Bhise was instrumental in the successful execution of this operation, which was carried out in collaboration with diligent ticket checking inspectors and the vigilant Railway Protection Force.
The Pune Railway Division has been actively conducting regular ticket checking to ensure passengers travel with proper tickets, and these recent actions underscore their commitment to maintaining the integrity of the railway system. Passengers are urged to comply with the railway regulations and travel with valid tickets to avoid fines and potential legal consequences, as the Railway Act prescribes fines and even imprisonment for non-compliance.
