Pune Railway Division Crosses Rs 1,000 Crore Mark in Passenger Revenue

Pune, 31st March 2023: For the first time, Central Railway’s Pune Division has surpassed the Rs 1,000 crore mark in passenger traffic revenue. In the previous financial year, the Pune division earned Rs 615 crores from passenger traffic. This year, there has been an average increase of 64 per cent in revenue, with an income of Rs 1,010 crores.

Milind Hirve, the Commerce chief, informed that an average of five crore passengers traveled through the Pune section during this period.

The Pune division comprises 70 railway stations, with Pune Railway Station being the largest and an important railway station connecting North and South India. With Pune’s expansion, the number of passengers traveling by rail is increasing, and so is the revenue of the railways. Until 26th March in the current financial year, the Pune Railway Division has received a total revenue of Rs 1,524 crores.

Compared to previous years, the income has increased by Rs 362 crores. The statistics also show an increase in income from freight, parcels, and other means.

Indurani Dubey, DRM of the Pune Division, said, “We will continue to provide the best facilities to the passengers. The trust of the citizens in the railway administration, along with the contribution of all the employees and officers of the Pune division, has made it possible to cross the one thousand crore mark.”
