Pune Railway Division Launches Intensive Ticket Checking Drive, About 10,000 Ticketless Passengers Fined In July

Pune, 4th August 2021: During the ticket checking on Pune Railway Division in July, a total of 9,748 people were found traveling without tickets and a fine of Rs 38 lakh 34 thousand was collected from them.

 

With this, six people were fined Rs 2800 for traveling irregularly, while more than Rs 15200 fine has been recovered from 124 people for carrying unbooked luggage.

 

In the period of four months from April to July this year, more than 27 thousand people were found traveling without tickets.

The said action was taken under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Renu Sharma, Additional Divisional Railway Manager Prakash Upadhyay, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Sunil Mishra, Divisional Commercial Manager Shyam Kulkarni, Assistant Commercial Manager S VN Subhash.

 

The ticket checking was done with the help of inspectors and the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

“This type of ticket checking is being run regularly by the railway administration. Passengers are requested that at present only passengers with confirmed tickets have been allowed to travel, so they should leave on the journey with a confirmed ticket only. Otherwise, they will have to pay a fine under the Railway Act and in case of non-payment, they can be jailed also”, a press release from the railways stated.
