Pune: Railway Passengers To Be Affected For Next 10 Months As Yard Remodelling Work At Pune Station To Begin Soon
Pune, 9th March 2023: The yard remodelling work of Pune railway station has been in discussion for the past several years. Finally, there are signs that this work will begin soon, Loksatta reported. This work will start in April and should be completed in 280 days. Due to this, many trains will be released from nearby stations. This will affect railway passengers.
According to railway sources, yard remodelling work at Pune railway station is likely to start in April. Since this project is big, it has to be planned from the micro level. Since this project has to be completed within a certain time frame, its planning has been going on for a long time. After the start of the work, the train services at Pune railway station will be disrupted. At that time, many trains will be released from nearby stations.
At present, the daily number of trains departing and arriving from the station is 150. Half of these trains are long-distance. These trains cannot be diverted to other stations as no nearby station has this capacity. So these trains will continue from Pune railway station only, sources said.
Local, intercity and short-distance trains will be diverted at Hadapsar, Shivajinagar and Khadki stations. Therefore, during the railway remodelling, passengers will have to travel from Hadapsar, Shivajinagar and Khadki stations instead of Pune station. This will cause inconvenience to passengers travelling by train in cities near Pune.
The yard remodelling work of Pune Railway Station was announced in 2018. The project was announced to increase the number of long-distance trains at the station. The length of the platforms will be increased to increase the number of long-distance trains. In this regard, the Pune Division of Railways sent a proposal to the Central Railway Board. Later, due to the Corona crisis, a decision could not be taken on this proposal. Finally, after five years, the project will be initiated.
