Pune Railway Police Rescue Kidnapped Child, Couple Arrested

Pune, 22nd December 2022: A couple who kidnapped a two-year-old child on the lure of food treat has been arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP).

With the help of as many as 250 CCTV footage and various rickshaw drivers’ associations, the GRP has succeeded in rescuing the kidnapped child. The incident took place on 10th December around 8.00 pm at Pune railway station.

Parvati Bhuvan Patle (22), a resident of Urli Kanchan and a native of Chhattisgarh, was waiting to go to Danapur from the Pune station for a religious function along with her relatives. At that time, a woman, along with her accomplice, kidnapped Parvati’s two-year-old son by luring him with treats.

Understanding the seriousness of the crime, in this case, seven investigation teams were dispatched under the guidance of Assistant Police Inspector Milind Zodge of the Local Crime Branch.

The movements of the kidnappers were observed. For that, the CCTV footage of the roads in the Pune Railway Station area was verified. 78 lodges and hotels in the area were raided. Over 250 CCTV cameras were examined. During the investigation, it was revealed that the child was abducted in a rickshaw.

Accordingly, the police called 43 rickshaw owners and various organizations for investigative help and gathered information. GRP arrested the couple as soon as they received information that the kidnappers were in the Ranjangaon area.

The operation was carried out under guidance of Superintendent of Police Railway Srikant Dhiware, Additional Superintendent of Police Ganesh Shinde, Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandrakant Bhosale. The team included Police Inspector Pramod Khopikar, Irfan Sheikh, Assistant Police Inspector Balasaheb Antarkar, API Palvi Kale, and RPF Inspector BS Raghuvanshi, API Milind Zodge, Hagwane, Sunil Kadam, Teke, Dangat, Kamble, Chile, Kumbhar, Pawar, Gawli, and Kendre.
