Pune, 22nd March 2023: Pune Railway Station has taken a significant step towards enhancing its security measures by installing 120 new CCTV cameras. The Central Railways’ Pune Division will carry out the installation in two phases, with 60 cameras already installed in various locations, including platforms, waiting rooms, booking offices, and concourse areas.
The new cameras will come equipped with advanced features such as facial recognition and motion detection, enabling them to detect any suspicious activity immediately. The high-resolution lenses of the cameras will also capture clear footage, which will be monitored in a control room set up at the station.
Pune DRM Indu Rani Devi said that this installation is in response to recent incidents reported, including theft and pickpocketing. The new cameras are expected to deter any future criminal activities and provide passengers with peace of mind when travelling through the station.
