Pune Railway Station Passengers Raise Concerns Over Ticket Machine Failures
Pune, 26th August 2026: Passengers at Pune Railway Station faced difficulties using Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) after several machines displayed a “supervisor login” message, prompting a complaint over access to unreserved ticketing facilities.
A passenger raised the issue on August 24, alleging that nearly half of the ticket vending machines were showing the message and could not be used for ticket booking. The passenger also flagged the lack of QR codes that could enable travellers to book unreserved tickets through digital ticketing services.
The complaint was registered through the RailMadad grievance system and forwarded to the Pune Divisional Railway Manager for examination.
Pune Division PRO Hemant Kumar Behera said all 16 ATVMs at Pune Railway Station are operational and clarified the reason behind the message.
“The ‘supervisor login’ message appears when the ticket roll in an ATVM is exhausted. The machine then requires staff intervention to replace the roll. Railway personnel attend to such machines immediately, refill the ticket roll and restore them for passenger use,” Behera said.
While the railway has clarified that the machines are operational, the complaint highlights the importance of keeping automated ticketing facilities continuously available to passengers, particularly during busy periods when travellers depend on quick access to unreserved tickets.
The railway has not issued a separate clarification regarding the availability of QR codes for app-based ticket booking at the locations mentioned in the complaint.
