Pune: Railways may stop Shramik Special trains

Pune, June 2, 2020: Indian Railways might make a decision to stop the Shramik Special trains, and has given indications of the same. There is a possibility that the railways would immediately decide to end this service. Now, there are no more Shramik Special Trains from Pune Railway Division. However, Indian Railways has received a request from the states to run 321 more Shramik Special trains.

Railways said that as long as there is demand, the Shramik Special trains will run. The Pune Railway Division of the Central Railway had run 138 trains till May 30. As many as 77 Shramik Special trains departed from Pune station alone. Beside this, 23 departed from Kolhapur, 12 from Miraj, 14 from Satara and 12 from Uruli railway station. The trains departed for Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Jammu, Manipur and Assam.

Since May 7, when the Shramik Special Trains started, as many as 1.77 lakh passengers boarded from Pune Railway Division, and reached their homes. For this, the division successfully ran these trains under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Renu Sharma.
