Pune: Rain Triggers 29 Tree-Fall Incidents in Five Hours, No Casualties
Pune, 4th July 2026: Continuous rainfall lashed in Pune on Saturday morning, led to multiple tree-fall incidents across the city and keeping emergency response teams busy. The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) fire brigade department received 29 calls related to fallen trees between 7 am and 12 noon and attended all the incidents, officials said.
According to the fire brigade, no injuries or fatalities were reported in any of the tree-fall incidents.
One of the incidents was reported at Wakdewadi on the Mumbai-Pune Road near Jog Centre, where a fallen tree completely blocked the road leading to Sfoorti Society, disrupting traffic movement.
Fire brigade personnel reached the spot and removed the tree using an electric chainsaw, axes, ropes and other rescue equipment before clearing the road for vehicular traffic.
The operation was carried out by a team comprising in-charge officer Harish Bundele, firemen Suresh Pawar and Rajendra Mahadik, helper Kunal Khandare, and driver Nitin Suryawanshi.
The civic fire brigade said its teams remained on alert throughout the morning and responded promptly to all tree-fall complaints received during the spell of continuous rain. Officials said all the reported incidents were resolved without any loss of life or injuries.
