Pune Rain Update: NDA (103 mm), Chakan (69.6 mm), Nigdi (53 mm), Magarpatta (54.5 mm) Among Worst-Hit

Pune, 21st May 2025: Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad on Wednesday night, leading to waterlogging in multiple areas. Severe incidents were reported from Kondhwa and the Pune-Nashik Highway stretch near Moshi, disrupting vehicular movement and causing delays.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the highest recorded rainfall till 10:15 PM in Pune was at NDA, which received 103 mm, followed by Dudulgaon (65 mm), Magarpatta (54.5 mm), and Purandar (33.5 mm). The Pune-Nashik Highway near Moshi and low-lying regions of Kondhwa experienced significant water accumulation, causing inconvenience to commuters. 

Additional rainfall data recorded by Aashay Measurements Pvt Ltd. at 10 PM included:

  • Khadakwasla: 54.4 mm
  • Ambegaon-Katraj: 40 mm
  • Warje: 26 mm
  • Khadki: 14 mm
  • Garware-Deccan: 10 mm

Meanwhile, Zomato AWS reported updated figures till 11:20 PM from across the city, including:

  • Chakan: 69.6 mm
  • Nigdi: 53 mm
  • Sus: 31.8 mm
  • Hinjewadi Phase 1: 27.6 mm
  • Pimpri: 26.8 mm
  • Bavdhan: 26 mm
  • Warje: 42.8 mm
  • Manjri: 11.8 mm
  • Wagholi: 10 mm

The IMD Mumbai issued a Nowcast warning at 10:15 PM, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and moderate spells of rain with gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph. The alert is valid for the next 3–4 hours for isolated places in the districts of Pune, Parbhani, Hingoli, and Jalna. Citizens have been advised to take precautions while moving outdoors.

Municipal officials have been put on alert to manage any emergencies, especially in areas prone to flooding. More showers are expected through the night, as per IMD forecasts.
