Pune Rains Worsen Hadapsar Railway Station Road; Thousands of Passengers Face Daily Ordeal

Mundhwa, 30th June 2026: Thousands of passengers travelling daily on the Daund–Pune DEMU service have urged the authorities to immediately repair the severely damaged approach road connecting Hadapsar Railway Station to the main highway. The 1 to 1.5-km stretch has deteriorated significantly, making daily commuting difficult, especially during the monsoon.
According to commuters, the road is riddled with potholes, mud and stagnant rainwater, forcing pedestrians to navigate hazardous conditions while walking to and from the station. The route is extensively used by office-goers, students, women, senior citizens and workers who rely on the Daund–Pune suburban rail service every day.
The demand comes at a time when Hadapsar Railway Station is being upgraded to handle increased passenger traffic and additional long-distance trains. However, commuters say inadequate approach roads and poor last-mile connectivity continue to remain major concerns. Authorities have previously acknowledged the need to improve access to the station.
Vishal Bharati, a daily commuter from Kedgaon, said, “Thousands of passengers use Hadapsar Railway Station every day, but the condition of the approach road is extremely poor. During the rainy season, the road becomes filled with mud and water, making it difficult and unsafe to walk. The administration should immediately repair this road to ensure safe and convenient access for commuters.”
Another regular passenger, Rahul Jadhav, who commutes between Daund and Pune for work, said, “We travel on this route every day, and reaching the station is often more difficult than the train journey itself. Senior citizens, women, and school and college students suffer the most because of the potholes and waterlogging. Basic road infrastructure is essential for a station that serves thousands of passengers daily.”
Commuters have appealed to the civic authorities and the railway administration to jointly undertake immediate repairs to the approach road before the monsoon causes further deterioration. They said improving the road would significantly enhance safety, accessibility and convenience for the thousands of passengers who depend on Hadapsar Railway Station every day.
