Pune: Rajiv Gandhi Zoo In Katraj To Open For Visitors After Two Years

Katraj, 15th March 2022: Rajiv Gandhi Zoo has been shut for the last two years due to the covid-19 pandemic. But now that covid has receded, from March 20 the zoo will be open.

The zoo will now have three new members, the jungle cat, leopard and ‘Shekru’. For the past several months, people have been asking for the re-opening of the zoo.

People can see tigers, lions, leopards, elephants, bears, deer, foxes, wolves etc. In the last two years, trenches have been built for new animals. Various development works have been carried out in the zoo and some more are in progress. Because in future taras, chaushinga, zebra will be brought. Its process will start soon.

Dr Rajkumar Jadhav said, “Some new species of animals can be seen here. The zebra will be soon brought to the zoo. A global tender will be issued for this. A trench has also been provided for this purpose. The zoo is being upgraded to world-class, and online ticketing will begin soon. A tender has been issued for this and it will take another 3-4 weeks for implementation. Therefore, there will be no rush for citizens for tickets.”
