Pune: Ramtekdi Pipeline Burst Triggers Two-Day Water Supply Shutdown Across Several Pune Localities
Pune, 26th December 2025: Several parts of Pune are set to face a complete water supply shutdown for two days after a major pipeline supplying water to the Ramtekdi water tank suffered a sudden burst, civic officials said on Friday. The incident has forced the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to initiate urgent repair operations, disrupting supply on December 26 and 27.
Officials from the civic body confirmed that emergency repair work is currently underway and is being carried out on a priority basis to minimise inconvenience to residents. Restoration of normal water supply is expected by Saturday night, provided the repairs are completed within schedule.
The disruption will affect multiple residential, industrial, and commercial pockets falling under the Ramtekdi water tank service zone. These include Hadapsar, Sasane Nagar, Sayyad Nagar, Hadapsar Industrial Estate, Kondhwa Budruk, Ramtekdi, Mohammadwadi, the SRPF campus, Mundhwa, Keshavnagar, Malwadi, Gulamnagar, Shewalwadi Road, and the Akashvani (radio station) area, among others.
Nandkishor Jagtap, Chief Engineer of the Water Supply Department, urged residents in the affected areas to make adequate arrangements in advance and use stored water judiciously during the shutdown period. He also appealed for public cooperation, assuring citizens that efforts are being made to restore services at the earliest.
The PMC has reiterated that it is closely monitoring the repair work to ensure timely completion and minimise disruption to daily life across the affected localities.
