Pune: Rape Case Accused Escape From Police Station

Pune, October 16, 2020: In a shocking incident, an accused in a rape case ran away from the Alankar Police station’s investigation room.

The accused has been identified as Ajay Ganesh Chavan (19), a resident of Warje Malwadi. Policeman Sachin Manohar Budhavale has lodged a complaint in this regard.

According to the police, Chavan was booked a few days ago for allegedly raping and sexually abusing a minor girl. He was taken into custody by staff on Thursday night and was handcuffed in the investigation room.

Around dawn, when Budhavale napped, the accused fled from the room. After a massive search the accused was again arrested from Warje Malwadi area, said Assistant Inspector Arun Ghodke.
