Pune: Rapid Action Force (RAF) Conducts Route March; Police Say Corona, Law And Order Is The Reason

Wanowrie, 28 February 2021: On Saturday (Feb 27), a route march was conducted by the Rapid Action Force (RAF) platoon comprising five officers and 55 personnel in the Sayyadnagar area. They were accompanied by 13 staff from Riot Control Police (RCP) of Zone 5 as well as six officers and 30 personnel from the Wanowrie police station under Pune city police.

Police officials said the route march was conducted in the backdrop of rising corona cases and also for the maintenance of law and order.

Last year also Pune police had deployed central armed police forces (CAPF) including CRPF, RAF and BSF to control the crowd during the peak Corona period in May. The central forces were deployed to relieve the state police personnel who had been continuously working to control the spread of the Coronavirus disease (COVID19) cases. The first case in Maharashtra was reported in Pune on March 8 last year.

Since the beginning of this month, Corona cases are again increasing in Pune. In the last 24 hours, a total of 412 people were discharged from hospitals after recovery from Coronavirus disease (COVID19) in Pune city today. Also, 739 new patients were detected while 6 people died today. Today swab samples of 8041 were collected for COVID tests.

According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the total number of Coronavirus positive patients till date has reached 2,01,928 out of which 1,92,501 have been cured while 4853 have died. There are still 4574 active patients undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
