Pune: Ravet Police Arrest Man for Practising Medicine Without Qualification

Ravet, 18th August 2026: The Ravet Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for allegedly practising medicine without a valid medical qualification and illegally treating patients in Punawale.

The accused has been identified as Bhagwat Tetkuram Nishad, a resident of Ravet. He was arrested around midnight on Sunday, August 16, from Pandhare Vasti in Punawale.

According to the police, the medical department of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) received information that Nishad was treating patients despite not having a medical degree or the required qualification to practise medicine. Following the information, a team led by municipal medical officer Dr Nandkumar More visited the area.

During the inspection, Nishad was allegedly found examining patients and providing them with medicines and injections. Police said he was also visiting patients at their homes and treating them without the necessary medical qualification.

Dr More subsequently lodged a complaint at the Ravet Police Station. A case has been registered against Nishad under Sections 318(4) and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 33 of the Medical Practitioners Act, 1961.

Police Sub-Inspector Rahul Khile said the investigation is underway.
